SCOPE OF WORK

The project included the demolition and removal of the approximately 258 tonnes rail mounted ship loader no. 2 at GrainCorp’s Carrington Wharf site, as well as the removal of a 48 tonne boom with loading spout and nozzle. The final step of the project was to recycle all scrap generated from the works.

UNIQUE CHALLENGES
Working over water for the removal of the boom

Potential for objects falling into the water

Lead paint used on the entire structure

 Proximity to live wharf infrastructure

CUSTOMIZED SOLUTIONS

Major Projects Group removed the boom using a 250 tonne crane and dismantled the remaining structure using a 130 tonne crane and a 50 tonne crane. In order to process the demolished structural components, Major Projects Group used a 32 tonne excavator equipped with specialist demolition attachments.

RESULTS

The project was completed ahead of time, according to plan and within the allocated budget.

Project Testimonial

The project was managed very professionally. All workers on site appeared to be highly experienced. All equipment used was in excellent functional condition, and communication was good over entire project.
