SOCIAL ENTERPRISE
For The Good Of The Environment
A Social Enterprise can be defined as “organisations that:
- are driven by a public or community cause, be it social, environmental, cultural or economic;
- derive most of their income from trade, not donations or grants; and
- use the majority (at least 50%) of their profits to work towards their social mission.”
Major Projects Group’s main reason to exist is to work towards a sustainable environment through the implementation of sustainable business practices and the work that our Foundation is doing. After our company provided the seed funding, initial expertise and logistics to establish the Major Projects Foundation in 2018, we decided to take a step further and commit half of our distributable profits to our Foundation.
The Major Projects Foundation responds to emerging maritime issues being faced by Australian coastal and Pacific Island waters, including the threat of oil spills from World War II shipwrecks, ghost nets, unexploded ordinance, plastic pollution and the effects of climate change.
